Hometown Hero
In September 2022, historic flooding caused catastrophic damage to our hometown of Chattooga County. Flood waters overtook the filtration plant, causing a major shut down. Residents were without water for 7-10 days while the county fixed the damage to the filtration plant.
Kevin Godfrey didn’t hesitate and came up with ways he could help the residents so desperately in need. With assistance from his crew and many others, Kevin was able to supply and distribute free cases, gallons, and buckets of water to residents.
Modern Woodman of America called Kevin and told him he had been nominated and won their ‘Hometown Hero’ award for the way he stepped up and assisted Chattooga County residents.
Modern Woodman also donated $100 to our charity of choice in Kevin Godfrey’s name. We donated the check to the Community Resource Center of Chattooga County, our local food bank.
Godfrey’s Crew filling buckets during Crisis
Godfrey’s Thanks everyone for the help!
Video of ‘WATER CHALLENGE’-During the water crisis Kevin Godfrey wanted to bring some laughter and hope back to the community so he started challenging people. Among the buckets donated from Lowe’s, there was a number of UGA Buckets. To get one you had to get a bucket of water dumped on your head!! The response we had was overwhelming. Being able to bring a little happiness during a time of struggle meant so much!
